Your Visit

Come discover and enjoy a unique Lexington treasure!  Located along beautiful Old Frankfort Pike, even the journey to and from the Museum is something to enjoy.  The short 6-mile drive from downtown Lexington highlights what it means to be the Horse Capital of the World.  Upon your arrival, the Museum’s staff and docents will guide your group on a fascinating tour through the collections as well as the temporary exhibition. 

A visit to the Headley-Whitney Museum offers guests a chance to experience both the natural beauty of Kentucky as well as its rich cultural heritage.  No trip to the Bluegrass would be complete without a visit to the Headley-Whitney Museum!

Other nearby attractions include: Keeneland Race Track, The Lexington Cemetery, historic downtown Midway, McConnell Springs, Labrot and Graham Distillery, Three Chimneys Farm Visitor’s Center, and Equus Run Vineyard and Winery.


Group Rates and Policies

Ten (10) or more individuals constitute a group tour and qualify for the reduced rate.

Adults

$6 per person

Seniors, ages 62 and up

$4 per person

University Students

$4 per person

School groups, grades 6 and above

$3 per person

School groups, grades 5 and below

$2 per person

 Chaperones and Drivers are admitted free of charge

  • Group tours are available Tuesday-Friday from 10am to 3:30pm and last approximately one hour.
  • Tours are required to be booked 2 weeks in advance.
  • The Museum requires a 50% non-refundable deposit to process your reservation.  The remaining fee is due at the time of arrival.
  • Photography is NOT permitted in the Museum.

School Tours

The Museum welcomes school groups of all ages.  When your students arrive at the Headley-Whitney Museum, staff members and docents will lead small groups through our diverse collection of decorative arts.  In addition to the arts, students will experience science, language, and history.  Our KERA-friendly tours, activities, and lesson plans are sure to please students and teachers alike. 

Tours are tailored to be age appropriate for your students and to fit your group’s specific learning goals.  You may select additional programming activities to enhance your visit and provide for a more hands-on learning experience.  Please refer to the Field Trips section on the Children’s Education page for more information.
